A community that cares

Crime prevention and empowerment to own safety

How it started

Outeniqualand Farm Watch was founded in 2020

The Farm Guard was established in October 2020 after the need was identified to empower the greater Sinksabrug area, which falls under the Grootbrak SAPS area (now the East Sector), to improve their own security. Later the veins were enlarged and the Friemersheim area (West Sector) as well as the Hoogekraal area (South Sector) were incorporated.

Since then several projects have already been successfully completed such as the establishment of network LPR (Licence Plate Recognition) cameras, the purchase of a thermal drone and many other community projects. Many breakthroughs have already been made in the prevention of crime and many criminals have tightened their belts and have been successfully stopped and/or prosecuted because the farm guard was able to collect information and SAPS was able to assist and help.

About Us

The Outeniqualand community consists mainly of agricultural land but also includes several other settlements. These range from informal settlements and smallholdings to large commercial farms.

This is a very wide area and the local SAPS is spread too thin to secure such a large area with the limited resources that the state gives them. Always more than willing to help and go above and beyond, the community is happy to assist them.

Not everyone in the community can afford to purchase their own security and it is not efficient either. However, together as a community we can make a real difference in fighting crime.

How to join

Some easy steps

Join Here

Contact us for more information.

Members are then uploaded to a WhatsApp group relevant to the area where they live and/or the groups where they engage with the farm guard.

Locations are plotted

All members' locations are plotted on a map to which only management has access in order to quickly get necessary emergency services to the right premises.

Monthly Contribution

A monthly voluntary contribution can be made if it is within the member's means. We don't want to exclude anyone, but the funds are needed to cover the monthly costs.

Sign Board Is Issued

If a contribution is made, the farm guard will issue a sign with your farm number which makes it easy for any emergency services to find your property. The farm guard's contact details are also on it so that passers-by can get in touch when they pass a property and suspect trouble or just want to report a cattle walking in the road.

Additional boards can be purchased if desired at cost price. Contact us for more information.

Monthly Contribution

Expenses to be covered are as follows:

Immediate LPR camera software (+/- R6000/month), monthly insurance for cameras, drone and equipment, two-way radio licenses, purchases of equipment to equip patrol members with and maintenance of cameras.
